Streaming things
For several years now, paper magazines have been circulating that use QR codes. These allow access to additional digital content that delves deeper into the topics covered in the magazine.
A simple innovation, accessible to anyone with a device with a camera and an internet connection, which we would like to experiment with and explore further, applying it to our project, which is based on two fundamental elements:
-
A catalog of auteur and independent films and shorts, from any era.
Since its inception, cinema has always been a mirror of its time, each film a magnifying glass on certain aspects of the surrounding reality, where each author then translates his ideas into images with a different vision of reality.
Digital media has multiplied the potential of cinema, and film production has expanded significantly. Yet, many films produced continue to be poorly viewed. This, in our opinion, is detrimental to freedom of information and the free flow of ideas. By losing the ability to enjoy this vast array of cinematic works, we greatly limit our ability to interpret reality.
All this is largely due to the limitations of current distribution methods. These limitations are caused, on the one hand, by the system itself on which distribution is based, but also by the simple fact that films are not equal commodities.
This is precisely why we would like our project to bring about a small revolution, expanding the possibilities for circulating film products and combining them with other media through an innovative use of QR codes.

“Streaming Things”: Unique QR Codes
What we call “the streaming of things” is the ability to use QR codes on various types of material media, such as magazines, books, DVDs, tickets, PDFs, to access streaming content.
How will our QR codes work? After scanning the QR code with a mobile phone, the user is asked whether they want to be identified with their phone number or email address, to which the password to access the streaming content is then sent.
QR codes are unique, meaning they can only be used by one person, the owner/purchaser of the physical medium on which they are printed (book, magazine, DVD, etc.). These codes allow the purchaser to access the reserved area of the website, which primarily features films and reviews presented with thematic articles and commentaries, but also features videos and additional content, available only to the logged-in user.
This way, we can offer a unique virtual catalog of films and festivals not only to those who already visit the site but also through innovative editorial and promotional products.
The range of products to which film and festival streaming can be added in this way is growing exponentially: essays, biographies, monographs, advanced reportages, but also audio materials, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays that can be supported by documentaries, or exhibitions-conferences with dedicated film festivals, etc. The festivals and films in the catalog can therefore be re-proposed in movie theaters, through tickets, also provided with QR codes, which will allow the full re-watching of these films and festivals on your device. Conversely, festivals and festivals held in the most diverse locations will find our portal an ideal venue for dissemination and circulation beyond the theater. This will help ensure that the themes explored by the works in our catalog become part of a broader debate, thus creating a virtuous circle capable of rethinking the movie theater as a physical and real terminal, a modern agora, essential for a new way of enjoying content and public debate that intertwines with the internet and the virtual.
