Bled el Siba (Rebel Land)

In keeping with its title, BLED el SIBA // REBEL LAND, the name given during the Spanish Protectorate of Northern Morocco to lands that refused to accept the authority of the sultan and therefore that of the colonizers, and with the aim of establishing links between past and present, announcing parallels and divergences between colonization and the current mechanisms of neoliberalism to perpetuate control over subordinate subjects, the work is contextualized in the Moroccan Rif, effecting a historical shift from the Spanish Protectorate of Northern Morocco to the present day through the female poetic tradition of irzan, fundamental to the creation and reproduction of Rifian identity.
