This documentary came about almost by chance. In 2015, Andrea came to my studio and proposed that we make a documentary on Gianluca Lerici – Prof Bad Trip – together, to mark the tenth anniversary of his passing. I loved Gianluca and was very familiar with his graphic and pictorial works, and had long wanted to do something to commemorate his genius. My response was obviously positive, and we began working on a project that initially included both a documentary and an exhibition component. The first person we contacted was, of course, Jena, Gianluca's life partner and, in many ways, his muse. Jena immediately welcomed us into her home, into her life, making available to us all her works, writings, and, above all, all her memories.
Through Jena we met Vittore Baroni, Renzo Daveti (Benzo) and our friends from the Teké Gallery, Stefano Dazzi and Marco Cirillo Petri, who at that time were organising a major exhibition of Gianluca's work in Carrara and Rome.
The first part of the documentary was filmed in early 2016.
The second part and the interviews were filmed at Tekè Gallery and in the streets of the historic center of Carrara in June 2016, during the opening days of the exhibition “A Saucerful of Colors”.
