He often finds himself imagining the ideal route to the summit, even though, he says, working in the family dairy, he spends more time contemplating the cheese wheels than the mountains.
Arianna is a young filmmaker passionate about mountaineering, Paolo is a mountain guide dreaming of the peaks of Patagonia. Together, they embark on an expedition with an ambitious goal: to open a new route to the highest peak of the Cordon Mariano Moreno, a mountain range that emerges from the surface of the Hielo Continental, the immense sea of ice that crosses southern Patagonia.
The idea of the undertaking was suggested by an old writing by the English mountaineer George Mallory, MOUNTAINEERING AS AN ARTInspired by that, Enrico developed his own personal vision.
The mountaineer is an artist: he observes the mountain and sees an imaginary line that will lead him to the summit, like a sculptor who glimpses a shape in a block of stone.
That mountain, seen from afar six years earlier during a previous expedition, has become his obsession. Arianna and Paolo support him in the organizational phase, train with him on his home mountains, and finally the time comes to set off for the Cordon Mariano Moreno.
A place no one has ever been before, a difficult and dangerous challenge, but above all a new way of understanding the mountains and mountaineering: not so much the sporting ambition of conquering at all costs, but the joy of discovering new territories, letting their beauty guide the path to the mountains above all.
