Narcissus Gray

This video work intertwines the myth of Narcissus and the 'myth' of Dorian Gray in a blend of ecstasy and aesthetics.

Narcissus Gray wanders in a state of autistic delirium with two mirrors in which he continually and vainly searches for himself.

Youth that does not decay, that does not pass, becomes a curse.

The canvas becomes a mirror to be cut and, if impossible, broken with a hammer.

Decadentism overwhelms the video, accompanied by vocal disarticulations and a demolished and unrecognizable Chopin.

Sciolè's anti-cinematographic approach becomes less extreme even if all his stylistic features remain (breaking cinematic time, showing the operator in the mirror, drop out, hand-held camera) accompanied by a photography achieved through filters that mark the various states of the protagonist.

Disenchantment pervades the work. The refusal to accept the passing of time, the rejection of old age, permeates the Narcissus Gray Man and renders him unknowingly immortal, unable to age in an Ever-Present.

The poetry, by Sciolè (Rugiada and other texts written for the video) and by Lorenzo Il Magnifico, fills the anti-protagonist's states.

The surreal and metaphysical setting of the Civitella Del Tronto Fortress completes the 'picture'.
