WOMEN AS VICTIMS: THIS IS NOT HOW YOU STOP VIOLENCE
“…the problem is not just talking about it, but how we talk about it.
And people talk badly about it, steering the discussion towards two very dangerous, dangerous paths: victim mentality and moralism.
It's as if we wanted to cure male violence with some of the fundamental ingredients that generate it.
Women are killed within family and romantic relationships. Yet the family, as it is, is never questioned, and the relationship between men and women is never addressed as the core of the problem.
“Femicide” refers to “females” and not “women” and focuses attention not on the killer, but on the injured party who becomes the victim.
“It was 2014, I was part of the group “Le ragazze del porno”, and we had been commissioned to do a work on gender violence.
I took the responsibility of making a short film that started from the idea of women as strong, self-determined, free and desiring subjects.”
