Something About Us
Introduction
A group of students from a writing school in Bologna, "Bottega Finzioni," and a forty-six-year-old woman who has been a prostitute for eleven years, meet in a village in the hills of Sasso Marconi, in a house that was once the scene of paid love encounters.
Synopsis
The body, Jana's company and money are the elements from which the story starts.
The students are twelve, all in their thirties or so, looking for inspiration, work, and certainty. There's Laura, an actress who occupies the Teatro Valle, and Paolo, the owner of a nice restaurant and a disenchanted aspiring writer.
The adventure unfolding in the village enthralls them all; they're the first to arrive and the last to leave. And Jana, with her mischievous and reassuring presence, removes their shyness like a corkscrew.
The boys abandon themselves to the magic of a small set, putting themselves on stage in a playful, skin-deep tension, while she lets herself be betrayed by her contradictions.
In June, Iano (that's the actual name of the village) is a yellow expanse of wheat dancing in the wind, where a group of kids have ventured among the tall ears of corn, running and laughing.
If the farmer catches them, he won't like it, but they don't seem to care, after all, such a transgression is more exciting than bedroom exercises, and feelings are more pornographic than sex.
Maybe those are the real taboo.
And in the countryside everyone becomes childish, including Jana.
Once Iano's set was closed, the more enterprising ones felt that the experience was not yet over and wanted to follow Laura to Rome, to the occupied Teatro Valle.
