Reflexes

"Reflections" tells the story of the encounter and clash between two seemingly similar friends, two respectable girls, clean-cut and kindly, who find themselves arguing about important issues without understanding each other. Claudia is tired of living passively in a world she doesn't like, where injustice, war, disease, and indifference reign. She refuses to accept it and becomes angry at Sofia's attitude, which seems to be that of most people—the classic "what can we do about it?" Sofia's isn't indifference, because no human being can remain indifferent to the loss of innocent lives, to misery, to poverty. Rather, it is a resigned acceptance, without a glimmer of hope, without a gaze that can lift our daily actions beyond our own small world and our far less serious problems. In Claudia, however, a light has gone on, a desire to do good in a more concrete way has matured. Perhaps she doesn't yet know how, where, or with whom, but she knows why. And that's enough.
