Sanperè
Introduction
The time spent waiting for a residence permit—and learning their fate—for Diarrè, a young Ivorian, and his fellow refugees from Libya, in a small reception center in the Cuneo area.
Synopsis
The young Ivorian Diarra and his companions in misfortune who arrived from Libya lived for a year waiting to receive a residence permit and the answers to their application for political asylum.
Between those who were forced to embark because of the Libyan conflict and those who paid to seek a future in Europe, the days of these guests are filled with the only thing they have: their words and their thoughts.
The wait becomes a time for discussion and dialogue about what they see around them, Italy and Italians, as well as for mutual understanding, through stories of the past and the diverse experiences of the present.
Meanwhile, the waiting period turns into the turmoil of the final months, with responses to asylum applications coming in one after another, and confusing news of the center's imminent closure.
The so-called North African Emergency, which saw them as involuntary protagonists for almost two years, is over.
After sharing each of these days, Diarra and the others will resume their journey, each towards a different destiny, each for themselves.
