Introduction
A house under construction collapses, and the construction site guard dies under the rubble. The collapse threatens to claim another victim: a child who is saved thanks to the timely intervention of Guillaume Apollinaire. Who is to blame? Who will solve the mystery?
Synopsis
Freely based on a story by André Breton. Presented at the 53rd Venice Film Festival. In competition at several Italian and European festivals, including the Festival of Mediterranean Cultures in Bastia.
Metaphors… a house, several houses; a neighborhood, several neighborhoods; a city, several cities; a world. Different worlds.
In our world, in our neighborhood, a house is under construction.
The house's design is illogical. Architecturally. The concept of the newness An end in itself. Compared to the neighborhood, the house is the intrusion of different spaces and times of life.
The neighborhood residents seem worried. Their concern, however, is veiled by indifference and curiosity. Their concern is quickly allayed by the reassurances of the construction site guard.
The house collapses and the caretaker dies under the rubble. Buried
from his good faith, from a world that does not belong to him.
The collapse of the house threatens to claim another victim: a child. The child is Hope. The collapse was the abrupt end to a game. His broken scooter is his only worry.
The child is saved thanks to the providential intervention of Guillaume-Albert De Kostrowitsky: Apollinaire, who is Poetry.
Poetry saves Hope.
Since public opinion only looks for blame and culprits after disasters have occurred, emotion is now very high, in our neighborhood, in our homes... Metaphors.
