Gipo Farassino sang of Turin. Born in 1934 in Barriera di Milano, at number 6 Via Cuneo, he traveled the world as a young man; returning to his hometown in the late 60s, he became a faithful witness to the Piedmontese soul before the economic boom that would change everything.
Gipo brought to life a Piedmont and Turin of times gone by, and composed immortal songs, both in Piedmontese and Italian.
He left us in 2013, on the threshold of his eightieth birthday, and the memory of his theater, invented in the early 1970s with Massimo Scaglione, a director and friend, has not faded at all. Then, in the 1980s, his political adventure: even in that "different" period of his life, Gipo knew how to stay close to his people, his audience, who continued to follow and love him. This book, richly illustrated, is a tribute to the life and work of a great man. A chansonnier, a theater artist, a barrier-breaker, as he liked to call himself: he was unique, and for this reason too we must remember him.
