Schillaci

After graduating from Manchester with a Master's degree in Visual Anthropology and Documentary Directing, she made numerous documentary films as both writer and director, which won awards at various international festivals, such as the Al Jazeera Film Festival, the RAI Film Festival, Fespaco, the Venice International Film Festival, and the Turin Film Festival.
Among his latest films, Les enfants en prison was co-produced and broadcast by French television channel Arte and won the Etoile de la Scam, an award given to the best documentary films broadcast in France; Libere was distributed by Lab 80 in over 100 Italian cinemas.
His latest work, Affiorare (Surfacing), is an experimental virtual reality film, selected by the Venice Biennale College and numerous other international festivals, and funded by Creative Europe and the Italian and Portuguese Ministries of Culture.
He currently participates in the UT Austin Portugal graduate research program at Universidad Nova in Lisbon, in collaboration with the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Turin, conducting research on new media and visual anthropology. He teaches visual anthropology, documentary, and immersive filmmaking in various university courses and seminars, including the Master's program at Goldsmiths in London, Manchester, and the Scuola Holden in Turin.
