Avenue des Champs-Elysées, Parigi. In un attentato terroristico un poliziotto perde la vita. Ma l’odio non troverà spazio. Dialogo e tolleranza, l’unica soluzione.

Il 20 aprile 2017 in Avenue des Champs-Elysées, il giovane ufficiale di polizia Xavier Jugelé ha perso la vita durante un attacco terroristico, il più recente di una lunga serie in Francia.

Lontano dalle prime pagine e sotto l’uniforme che indossava, ci sono stati – come sempre in queste terribili circostanze – sogni infranti e vite interrotte, come interrotta è stata la storia d’amore e l’unione di questo agente con Etienne Cardlels, il suo compagno, che ha tenuto un discorso commovente durante il funerale di stato.

Il dolore, però, non ha prodotto odio, “perché la tolleranza e il dialogo sono le uniche strade possibili”.

On April 20, 2017 in Avenue des Champs-Elysées, the young police office Xavier Jugelé lost his life during a terror attack, the most recent of a long series in France. Away from the front pages and beneath the uniform he wore, there were – as always in these terrible circumstances – broken dreams and interrupted lives, as interrupted was this officer’s love story and union with Etienne Cardlels, his partner, who gave a moving speech during the state funeral. The pain, however, has produced no hate, “Because tolerance and dialogue are the only possible paths.”
